Ethnic violence has erupted in North-central Nigeria leaving many locals dead and properties destroyed.
About seven people have been killed and 14 houses burnt in Obi local government area of Nasarawa state in renewed clashes between Koro and Eggon tribesmen in Nasarawa state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Abayomi Akeremale, who confirmed the killing, stated that several houses were also destroyed by fire during the hostilities between the two tribes in Gwadanye area of Agyaragu.
The constituency office of the Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Elisha Agwadu, was among those razed.
Some of the casualties are currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital in Lafia, the state capital, north central Nigeria.
Minority groups have lived together peacefully across the country of 160 million for years, but the growing violence is creating a climate of ethnic distrust and local communities have lost faith in the government's ability to protect them.
