The World Bank has denied some media reports suggesting that it is investigating Ghana’s President John Mahama and his wife, Mrs Lordina Mahama.
In a signed statement posted on its official Facebook page today November 13, 2012, the Bank said “Media reports claiming that the World Bank is investigating the President of the Republic of Ghana and his wife are false.”
The World Bank has no knowledge of other claims made in these media reports, the brief statement signed by the Bank’s Country Director, Mr Yusupha Crookes, said.
Last October, some media reports claimed that both the World Bank and IMF are investigating President John Mahama and his wife for the embezzlement of some millions of dollars given to Ghana as loans and grants since 2010. The reports claim the monies have been deposited in some Swiss bank accounts.
