Oil tycoon Harold Hamm’s divorce with second wife Sue Ann Hamm from their 25-year marriage could end with the most expensive divorce of all time.
Hamm, 67, ranks No. 35 on Forbes’ list of richest Americans. He is a self-made man worth over $11 billion who served as senior energy advisor on Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
He is the owner of the fastest-growing oil company in America that owes a good deal of its current success to the controversial process of fracking-squeezing oil out of rocks in the North Dakota region.
Harold may lose half the control he currently has over his oil company because he got caught fooling around with another woman. Sue Ann, 56, is filing for divorce on the claim that Harold has cheated on her.
The settlement could award Sue Ann at least a decent portion of Harold’s 68 percent stake in Continental Resources. The couple reportedly built the company together in the golden years of their marriage.
But after the possibilities of such a conclusion were leaked, Continental issued a statement to help calm any nervous investors claiming that the divorce “is not anticipated to have any impact or effect on the Company’s business or operations.”
As of now, the most expensive divorce settlement of all time is owned by Rupert and Anna Murdoch, which resulted in a $1.7 billion payout.
