It seems that the offspring of Russian aristocrats are embroiled in this unofficial competition of extravagance.
For one reason or another, a good deal of the sons and daughters of Russia’s richest men are literally trying to outclass each other in terms of luxurious purchases, acquisitions and investments.

And the majority of them aren’t even 25 years old. We’ll start with Arkadiy Abramovich, the 19-year-old son of Chelsea Football Club owner and Private Investment powerhouse Roman Abramovich.

It has been reported that Arkadiy has bought a stake in an oilfield in Siberia for the convenient price of 46 million dollars. Arkadiy was able to acquire the oilfield through the 45% of a shell company that he owns. He is currently working as an intern at the London office of a Russian bank.

Then there’s Ekaterina Rybolovleva, the 23-year-old daughter of fertilizer billionaire Dmitry Rybolovley. Last year, Ekaterina bought the most expensive available apartment in New York for $88 million to live in while she finishes school. The apartment, located at 15 Central Park West, has 10 rooms, including four bedrooms and a 2,00 square-foot wraparound terrace.

At least Kira Plastinina, 20-year-old daughter of dairy tycoon Sergei Plastinina is trying to make it on her own steam. She launched her own retail clothing line when she was barely a teenager and filed for bankruptcy in 2009 when she turned 16.

Kira now owns a number of clothing stores in Russia, many of which carry items from her own label. Her father paid Paris Hilton $2 million just to attend her launch party in Moscow in 2007.
