The Israeli military announced on Sunday that it has disciplined a group of female soldiers who posed for photos in their underwear while holding combat gear and then posted them to Facebook.
Israeli news site Walla said that the female soldiers were new recruits stationed on a base in southern Israel.
One picture showed them removing their uniforms to show their underwear and back sides. Another photo shows five women using only weapons to cover their naked bodies.
The Israeli military said the women showed “unbecoming behavior” and that “the commanding officers disciplined the soldiers as they saw fitting.”
The statement did not identify the soldiers or give any details as to their punishment.
This isn’t the first time in the past few years that the Israeli military has had to discipline its soldiers for lude or inappropriate social media activity.
In a video posted to YouTube in 2010, a male Israeli soldier was filmed dancing around a blindfolded Palestinian woman. Then a collection of photos were discovered that showed a female soldier posing in front of a group of Palestinian prisoners.
These two incidents prompted the Israeli military to ban its soldiers from using social media sites while on base.
It is unclear whether this ban is still in effect or how it influenced the punishment of the aforementioned female soldiers.
