Nigeria - Five members of the Rivers assembly loyal to the PDP hierarchy in the state/Nyesom Wike faction today caused chaos in the assembly chambers.
The disgruntled lawmakers allegedly impeached the speaker of the assembly, Otelemaba Amachree and the House leader, Chidi Lloyd.
Amachree and Lloyd are said to be core supporters of the Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The 5 lawmakers appointed Evans Bipi, the younger brother of first lady, Patience Jonathan, who only recently got married, as their speaker.
The assembly sitting turned violent as thugs loyal to the anti-Amaechi 5 took over, hitting and brutalising the House leader and damaging properties inside the chambers.
