President Goodluck Jonathan, on Saturday hosted five Northern Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party as part of the presidency’s continuous effort towards settling the ongoing crisis in the Party.
The five Governors hosted at the Presidential Villa, Abuja by the president were Governors Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Ibrahim Geidam (Yobe) and Kashim Shettima (Borno).
The truce between the president and Nyako, as well as Aliyu and Kwankwaso emanated from the governors’ support for Amaechi whom they believed won the controversial Governors’ Forum election.
It has been revealed that the Governors have equally been discussing with Governor Amaechi on how to resolve the ongoing crisis.
It would be recalled that the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta also hosted the Governors to discuss issues believed to include the crisis in Rivers State and the PDP
On Monday.
The Governors did not stop in their effort towards bringing peace into the party as they also had a meeting with Heads of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar in Minna, Niger State.
The meeting with the President Jonathan on Saturday was based on the resolution arrived at the meeting with the former President, Obasanjo.
Although the outcome of the meeting was not officially disclosed, a source who pleaded anonymity had told journalists that the Governors had expressed their grievances over the presidency’s support for Jang as the Forum’s Chairman when it was clear that Amaechi won the election.
DailyPost has equally gathered that the Governors frowned at the way Tukur handles the affairs of the PDP, asking that he be sacked for peace to return to the party.
“The President was told to support the chairman of the NGF, who is from his zone and who was elected by the majority of the governors.
“They also told him that he should realise that he came to office through election and not through endorsement, which Jang is claiming to have before the NGF election.
“They told the President pointedly that there was no way he could wash his hands off what is happening in both the NGF and Rivers State and that he must act as a leader.
“They said if he could do these three things, the tension in the country would be reduced drastically,” the source had disclosed..

ReplyDeleteHe keeps claiming he has no hands in the crises in Rivers state but facts and evidences are saying the opposite. The man is a Confusionist, yet he claims to love peace. It is in his government that 16 > 19 (In the NGF), 5 > 27. Yet, in all of this the man keeps failing woefully. This is a clear signal to him about 2015.
