Facebook ignored Khalil Shreateh’s report that he had discovered a glitch in the site’s security settings that allowed anyone to post on a stranger’s wall.
So the Palestinian hacker proved the validity of his discovery by posting the same complaint on Mark Zuckerberg’s wall.
According to Daily Mail, Shreateh first contacted Facebook after proving the glitch was real by writing on the wall of one of Zuckerberg’s friends.
Instead of thanking him and fixing the problem, however, Facebook simply denied Khalil’s claims. Facebook usually rewards programmers who detect holes in security, but because of the methods by which Shreateh brought attention to the problem, he was denied this reward, as well.
Here is the original message Khalil sent:
“My name is Khalil Shreateh. I finished school with B.A degree in Information Systems . I would like to report a bug in your main site (www.facebook.com) which i discovered it…The bug allow Facebook users to share links to other facebook users , I tested it on Sarah.Goodin wall and I got success post.”
Facebook reportedly replied to this message by saying the issue “was not a bug.”
