The president yesterday held two separate meetings with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and 16 governors of the Peoples’ Democratic Party a day after a splinter group emerged in the party.
President Goodluck Jonathan first met behind closed doors with Chief Obasanjo for close to two hours inside his official residence in the presidential villa, Abuja and then the governors, including four of the seven that are the arrowheads of the splinter group known as the new PDP.
The four governors include Babangida Aliyu of Niger state, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano state, Adamawa state’s Muritala Nyako and Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara state.
The G-7 and a founding member, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had walked out of the PDP special convention in Abuja on Saturday and consequently, announced the formation of the new PDP.

With 16 PDP Governors yet Akwa Ibom state governor and his cohorts can't differentiate 16 and 19.
