A teenager wept today as she told a jury how she was raped at the age of six by Coronation Street star Michael Le Vell.
Giving evidence from behind a curtain she claimed the actor covered her mouth with a teddy bear as she clutched another teddy in her hand.

She said Le Vell was reeking of alcohol and cigarettes as he told her: “It’s our little secret, no one needs to know otherwise… you’ll die and the evil will come over you.”

The girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said: “To stop me speaking he put one of my favourite teddy bears over my mouth.

"I could still breathe but I couldn’t say anything.

“He was saying it was safe and he was getting rid of all the evil and bad that was inside of me.

"It felt like it was going on for a very long time, probably 10 minutes. Then he got off me and kissed my cheek and then left.

“I was so in shock it felt like I wasn’t in my body at the time. It was like I was motionless.”

The girl, now 17, claimed that Le Vell said as he abused her: “It’s ok – just keep calm, stay asleep, I’m going to get rid of the evil.”

Le Vell, 48, who plays Street garage boss Kevin Webster, was appearing at Manchester crown court at the start of a two-week trial.

He denies a total of 12 charges which are: five counts of rape, three of indecent assault, two counts of sexual activity with a child and two of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

The girl he is alleged to have abused from the age of six until she was 14 told the court during a harrowing hour and 45 minutes of evidence how she was haunted by her ordeal.

She told no one about the alleged abuse – and would “sit and cry and cuddle my teddies and tell them it didn’t feel right”.
