Nigeria's Kabo Air officials have denied reports that their Saudi Arabia-bound Boeing 747 plane was involved in landing mishap at the Sir Abubakar III Airport in Sokoto on Saturday.
“No one was hurt, we were not involved in air mishap and it was just a speculation aimed to tarnish our image and God willing they will not succeed at all," said the airline.

According to the Spokesman of the airline, Malam Aminu Hamza: “Our aircraft did not have any air mishap but what actually happened was that it had a rear tyre problem at a point of landing at Sokoto where it intended to pick passengers bound for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia”.

Addressing reporters at its corporate office in Kano on Saturday, Hamza said
“all our aircraft are in serviceable condition”.

Expalining further, he said: the plane had 494 passengers on board although it had the capacity to carry 556 passengers.

“It’s totally untrue because even the passengers onboard are not aware of what exactly happened”.

Hamza explaining that the plane went to Sokoto to board more passengers, after successfully taking off from Kano and debunked some social media reports that the plane tyre boost mid-air before it landed.

The spokesman also explained that all the passengers aboard the airline had been lodged in hotels in the Sokoto before a new plane was sent to convey them to Saudi Arabia.

He advised people to always spread factual news and not rumors, adding that “already the passengers have already arrived the King Abdul-Aziz International Airport in Jeddah as at the time Iam addressing you”.

According to reports, even by the international media, the Saudi-bound Kabo Air plane carrying 400 passengers from Kano was said to have made an emergency landing at the Sir Abubakar III international Airport in Sokoto early hours of Saturday after suffering tyre blow out.
