The deadly and dreaded disease of Ebola has induced panic all over the world. With a fatality rate of up to 90 per cent, it sure is a matter of grave concern. The Director of US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Tom Frieden said on Thursday that Ebola outbreak is set to get worse.

Frieden was quoted saying to CNN: “It's even worse than I'd feared”.

“Every day this outbreak goes on, it increases the risk for another export to another country. The sooner the world comes together to help Liberia and West Africans, the safer we will all be”, he added.

An outbreak of Ebola virus disease began in Guinea in December 2013, leading to an epidemic in West Africa after it spread to Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Liberia is worst-hit by the deadly virus, with 624 deaths and 1,082 cases, since the start of the year.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), there have been 2,615 cases and 1,427 deaths reported in the Ebola-affected nations of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria so far.

The WHO declared Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in West Africa as an “international health emergency”.
