As the former Information Minister of Information and Director-General of NAFDAC, late Professor Dora Akunyili, will be buried today at her husband’s compound at Agulu in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State, mourners of the late don were subjected to mandatory Ebola screening before being allowed into the venue of the event organised by the Anambra State government.
Governor Willie Obiano and other leaders and groups who spoke eulogised Dora for a very good and worthy life.
Obiano said Dora was without doubt an amazon and a shooting star whose dazzling sparkles illuminated the universe while she lived.
He described her as a fearless fighter who braved the traumatizing pain of the illness that eventually claimed her life while contributing to the National Conference in Abuja.
He said he had concluded arrangements to name Dora as the state’s ambassador plenipotentiary before her death.
Before her body arrived her home it was received at the Women Development Centre in Awka, the state capital, with dignitaries from all works of life paying tribute, including former Head of State, retired General Yakubu Gowon and Bola Obasanjo, wife of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo.
