President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday appointed Mr. Danladi Kifasi as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Kifasi until his new appointment, was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
He would take over from Alhaji Abubakar Goni Aji whose retirement is due next Monday after 35 years in service.
Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, made the appointment known when he briefed State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
According to him, Jonathan congratulated Aji and thanked him for the efforts he put into the improvement of the civil service.
“The Head of Service, Aji, formerly retired from service, having attained the 35 years in service. He was appointed Head of Service by the President and since his appointment, he has served the nation with a lot of leadership experience. His appointment had impacted positively on the federal civil service. President Jonathan in council, thanked him for his achievements.
“He has brought his leadership and capacity, his ability to network with other people in government to achieve the objectives and implementation of the transformation agenda.
“Mr. President said he found him very competent, very knowledgeable and very committed to his work. The council moved a motion to formally congratulate him for attaining this height in service and also to thank him for the good work he has done for the country.
The president then announced a the immediate appointment of Mr. Danladi Kefasi, who is presently the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources,” Maku stressed.
