Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed his appreciation to all those who responded enthusiastically to his appeal for collective action by contributing generously to the Terror Victims’ Support Fund.

In a statement on Friday in Abuja by presidential spokesman Reuben Abati, President Jonathan said that a total of about $391 million was realised during the fund-raising with the highest donation of $66 million and the lowest individual contribution of $33.

Jonathan said the figure exceeded the Federal Government’s initial target of $334 million.

He described the generous donations as an indication of support for the FG’s counter-terrorism strategies.

According to him, the gesture showed that the public was genuinely concerned about the threat of terrorism to the country’s common humanity and stands ready to support worthy causes and pro-people policies.

President Jonathan appealed to other Nigerians and friends of the country to make their token contributions to the Fund as the Foundation seeks further support.
