Health officials are monitoring more than 200 people in the southern Nigerian city of Port Harcourt who may have been exposed to Ebola after a single man infected a doctor who then continued to treat patients before he himself died of the disease.

Authorities thought they had largely contained a small outbreak in Nigeria, but the World Health Organization says the doctor's actions created "multiple high-risk opportunities for transmission of the virus."

On Thursday, some Port Harcourt residents expressed confidence all the sick would be isolated, but others feared the disease will spread.

Ebola has killed more than 1,900 people in West Africa. A sick traveler from Liberia brought the disease to Nigeria; someone he infected then spread it to Port Harcourt.
