Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, thursday declared his intention to contest the State governorship on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-Rufai said this in Kaduna when he visited the party’s office.
“I came along with my colleagues to formally inform the state chapter of the APC of my intension to contest for the governorship of Kaduna State.

“We think that it is a necessary first step to inform the party officially that this is our intention before making any formal declaration,” he said.

He also congratulated the party leadership for its efforts in unifying the various factions and groups that constituted the APC.

El-Rufai said the chairman of the party and his team did a great job in reconciling all the warring factions “and we think it is important to encourage and ask them to do more.”

According to him, ”We came to present the party with some vehicles because the party has nothing or little in terms of operational materials.

“As you can see, the party office is not yet furnished; we are going to work with other stakeholders to make sure that the party office is furnished.”

El-Rufai said defeating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state “will be as simple as abcd.”
According to him, the PDP would be serially beaten because it has nothing to show in the state.

El-Rufai who stated this yesterday on Kaduna shortly after he donated 15 vehicles to the state executive of the APC added that the state was  being run by grossly incompetent government that must be unseat for purposeful unity and development.

“Defeating incumbent government is not difficult because the PDP did not win last election, it was rigged, the CPC won last election in State and we all know what happened. We all know the efforts to militarised the state to write results, and we are going to resist it this time.

“I have no doubt in my mind that the PDP in Kaduna is gone, it is history. It is just a matter of time and in February 2015, we will prove that. It is not a problem at all, a non-performing government is making people poor and insecure,” El-Rufai said.

According to him, the influence of Vice-President Namadi Sambo would not be a threat to the APC in the state.

“Forget  about the vice-president, forget about money, it is about people and the people of Kaduna will never vote for the PDP with vice-president or no vice-president.

“I don’t have a godfather, the only godfather I have is the God Almighty Himself.  I have never had godfathers in my life but I have mentors I respect, like Buhari the leader of our party. I have same for Obasanjo I worked for him but even Obasanjo cannot force me to do what is not right. I am not designed so,” he said.
