The mother of Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot and killed by paralympian Oscar Pistorius last year, said in a book the two did not have sex.
In "Reeva: a Mother's Story", June Steenkamp wrote her daughter confided in her that although she and Pistorius spent nights together, they did not have sex because "she was scared to take the relationship to that level".
"To look at him now, he's a pathetic figure. He looks haunted. He's already been punished in a way," South Africa's SAPA news agency reports Steenkamp as saying in her book.
"Whatever is in his head is in his head forever, he will have to live with that," she wrote.
Pistorius, 27, was sentenced to five years imprisonment on Oct 21 after being found guilty of culpable homicide.
The athlete shot Steenkamp, 31, through a locked toilet door in his Pretoria home on Feb 14, 2013 after mistaking her for an intruder.
Sunday Times reported June Steenkamp she did not believe Pistorius' version of what took place on that fateful day.
