There were conflicting reports yesterday over the reported crash of another helicopter belonging to the military in Yola, Adamawa State.

While residents of Damare area of the state said they heard the crash, military authorities have insisted that there was no crash.


According to online newspaper, the Cable, a resident of Yola, Aliyu Umar, who witnessed the incident, said the crash occurred at about 1pm around the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camp in Damare.

“It is true that sadly, in Yola, another helicopter crash was recorded again. I was on my way to a friend’s place when i noticed the smoke from afar. People were rushing to the scene but I chose not to go,” he said.

A youth corps member, Daramola, was also said to have corroborated Umar’s claim.

“I heard about the incident while returning from the market this afternoon,” she said.

The latest crash is the third in the series suffered by the military in Yola. Two other helicopter crashes had occurred in the state capital, with one killing three people who were onboard the aircraft.
