A bomb blast at a Nigerian bank ATM killed at least 11 in the town of Azare in the northern state of Bauchi.
The explosion also seriously injured 24 others, Dahiru Haruna, a spokesman for the Centre hospital, where the wounded were taken to, said by phone from Azare. The bombing is the latest to hit the town after at least five people were killed in a blast at a bus-station two weeks ago.
Nigerian authorities are battling a five-year-old insurgency by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, which has claimed the lives of 13,000 people since 2009, according to President Goodluck Jonathan.
Boko Haram, whose name roughly means “Western education is a sin” in the Hausa language, has fought to impose Shariah, or Islamic rule, in Africa’s biggest oil producer and most-populous country of about 170 million.
