It's been confirmed that controversial Ses'khona Peoples Rights Movement and former African National Congress (ANC) councillor Andile Lili was shot.

Lili is said to be in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot several times on Wednesday night.

Ses'khona spokesman Sithembele Majova said, “Comrade Andile Lili was shot last night in front of his home in Makhaza, Khayelitsha. People are devastated by this news.”

Majova says they want arrests to be made swiftly.

“We find it strange that when we're about to march, there are a group of individuals who were critically insulting our march.”

The motive behind the shooting is being investigated.

SES'KHONA TO MARCH ON PARLIAMENT

The movement march to Parliament today to raise grievances over high unemployment.

On Wednesday, it said the African National Congress (ANC) wants to muscle in on its job creation campaign, adding that the ruling party’s attempt to hijack an agreement it has with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) is leading to even fewer jobs being created.

Ses'khona claims the ANC is trying to sabotage a partnership it has with Prasa, which will effectively create 25,000 jobs in the next five years.
Lili spoke to the media on Wednesday, saying the ruling party has been trying to prevent the partnership from taking off, making claims the NGO is extorting money from people in return for jobs.

He claimed provincial secretary Songezo Mjongile is behind the move.

“The ANC should actually look at Songezo’s conduct. Songezo throughout has been intimidating the team that was tasked by Prasa to actually work with us.”

The NGO claims 5,000 people will be part of the march this morning.
