It was a moment of wailings at the Lagos airport yesterday night as 74 remains of Africans, who died in the collapsed six-storey building owned by the Church of All Nations located in Ikotun-Idimu area of Lagos were flown to Africa by their government.

Speaking at a press briefing that started at about 9pm , the minister in the presidency, Mr Jeff Radebe, who led the African repatriation delegation to Nigeria, said the dead bodies were being taken back to their country for proper burial.

According to him, “Of the 85 South Africans, we have received 74 bodies from State government and would be flown to Africa at 10:50 pm from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA and would arrive at the early hours on Sunday (today). This would be through a chartered plane.

“And on arrival at the airport, a short ceremony would be organised for the victims and the bodies would be handed over to their relatives.”
