A convicted killer and serial rapist has escaped from the High Court in Palm Ridge.
Lungisani Mdlolo was due to be sentenced today on three counts of rape, one of murder and five of armed robbery.
It's believed he escaped while he was being brought up from the holding cells.
It's understood the convicted serial rapist and murderer dubbed "One Man" had been terrorising the communities of Kliptown and Klipspruit in Soweto before his arrest in 2012.
It's understood Mdlolo targeted mainly female-headed homes and raped some of the women.
The police's Lungelo Dlamini says, "Police have launched a manhunt for the dangerous criminal that escaped from the Palm Ridge Court."
It's alleged Mdlolo was not wearing leg irons when he was being brought to court.
Police say they are investigating.
