Gunmen, at the weekend, attacked and killed 10 natives, wounding others at Tattaura Community in Sanga Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna.
An eyewitness told journalists that the gunmen attacked the community around 10.12p.m on Saturday, killing the natives.
He said the five that were critically injured were receiving treatment at Akwanga General Hospital in Nasarawa State.
Alhaji Nasiru Harande, who is chairman of the affected community, described the attack as unfortunate and urged the authorities to provide security in the area.
He said normalcy hasd retuned to the area, adding that 10 people were killed while five others that were injured were receiving treatment in a general hospital in Akwanga. “The attackers came, shot and flee,” he added.
Tattaura is a community in Ancha District of Ninzo Chiefdom. The village is two kilometres east of Gwantu, the local government headquarters.
A community leader, Mike Sanga, said the attack took place in a shop where some men were relaxing after a hectic dance.
He said: “Our community is about three km to Nandu – Ankpong where 19 people were killed on June 23, 2014. We identified the people killed to be: Joel Ambo – a primary school teacher, Yakubu Ambi, Yamu Idzi, Anche Ishaku and Misalai Ngbo.
Others are: Ishaya Anche, Monday Samson, Joel Anzah, Jonathan Anche and one P – Square that visited from Randa community.
Another resident, Mr Benard Tattaura said they didn’t know what was responsible for the attacks adding that, “if the government did not arrest these frequent attacks, we are finished.’’
According to the natives, the victims would be given mass burial. Their corpses were seen still lying in front of the shop while many people from various communities visited to commiserate with the community over the attacks.
