Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie came to the rescue of Congo DR with a second-half equaliser to earn them a point against Zambia.
Given Singuluma had put Zambia ahead after just 62 seconds, lashing home from the edge of the box.
However, Congo DR were the better side throughout and deservedly equalised 24 minutes from from the end, when Bolasie swept past the keeper into the top left-hand corner.
In the day's other match, Tunisia and Cape Verde Islands couldn't be separated either, also finishing 1-1.
The game remained goalless until the 70th minute, when Mohamed Ali Moncer slid in the opener for Tunisia.
But it was a goal which came against the run of play, and Cape Verde Islands deservedly equalised from the penalty spot seven minutes later through Heldon.
