South African hip hop star Nkuli Habedi, popularly known as Flabba, has been killed in Alexandra in Johannesburg on Monday morning.
The rapper made his claim to fame with the award winning group Skwatta Kamp. The police's Katlego Mogale says a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, has been taken into custody.
“A well-known musician was stabbed to death allegedly by his girlfriend in the early hours of this morning in Alexandra. At this stage the motive for the killing is unknown and will be investigated by Alexandra police,” says Mogale.
The police have opened a case of murder.
Condolence messages have begun pouring in for Flabba. Most of the tributes have been flooding through social media. Friend and fellow rapper, Sean Pages, described Flabba as one of the pioneers for South African hip-hop.
"To me, Flabba was an inspiration to me and also like a big brother. Someone I looked up to as an artist growing up in Alex. Besides being a legend we've lost a great human being. I regard him as a pioneer. He gave a lot of inspiration to a lot of Alex rappers like myself."
