South African Authorities have revealed that Ghanaian Emmanuel Quarcoo was not killed in a xenophobic attack.

This comes as Ghanaians and foreign nationals have pitched camp at police

stations for fear of being beaten or killed, following attacks on foreign nationals and businesses in the Rainbow Nation.

South Africa’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Lulama Xingwana tells JoyNews no Ghanaian has died from the xenophobic attacks and assures enough protection is being provided for Ghanaians in the country.

Ms Xingwana, speaking to JoyNews’ Francis Abban explained that medical reports suggest that Emmanuel died from Natural causes. She was emphatic in stating that he was not one of the victims of the attacks.

She stated that President Jacob Zuma has called for calm and has released police from other cities to go to Durban and other cities struck by violence, to protect foreigners there.
