Coroner's Verdict Finds TB Joshua's Church Guilty

The Coroner's office in Lagos State has indicted TB Joshua's Synagogue Church for the collapse of the guest house in which 114 people were killed including 81 South Africans.

Coroner Oyetade Komolafe says the church should be probed for not obtaining approval for the construction of the guest house. Komolafe says the church is guilty of criminal negligence over the collapse.



The residential building collapsed in September last year and it took many months for the remains of the South African victims to be returned home.

Synagogue Church representative in South Africa Bally Chuene says: "What we have received is the judgement given over the bar by the coroner. In essence amongst other things there are indications that the church needs to be further investigated. What we want to do first is to obtain a copy of the coroner's judgement and its recommendations and once we have done that we will be able to respond appropriately."
