Mauritius and Italy will reinforce bilateral ties to further strengthen the relations between the two countries and provide mutual support with regards to their memberships in various international organisations.
This statement was made by Dr Paolo Serpi, Special Envoy of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs for Southern Africa, following a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, Sir Anerood Jugnauth, on 18th March at the Treasury Building in Port Louis.
Dr Paolo Serpi expressed satisfaction with regards to his meeting with the Prime Minister which he said was fruitful and most appropriate given the number of Mauritians who are already residing and working in different regions in Italy. He underlined that Mauritians are already operating in various economic sectors such as tourism, catering and hospitality and manufacturing, and textile, among others. He added that Mauritians are known to be hard workers and that their work is highly appreciated.
He further underscored that the meeting also focused on deepening the relationship between the two countries and in what ways Italy can provide more support to the Mauritian diaspora in Italy.
