Prophet steals and sells client's laptop during over night prayer

A Prophet from Mabvuku in Harare is in trouble after he sold a church member’s $700 worth laptop. Moses Jingini, 21, cheated Kudzai Mwale 21, of Houghton Park.


He was charged with fraud and theft of trust property when he appeared in court Tuesday.
He pleaded guilty to both charges saying he had serious problem which required money and had to sell the laptop because he had no money on him. He denied that he was in the habit of duping people.

Court heard Mwale was introduced to Jingini sometime in April this year when she was having family and monetary problems.

During the same month, court heard, Jingini visited Mwale at her place of residence and prayed for her. He then told Mwale to give him her laptop so that he could use it as he prayed for her.

Court heard that Mwale refused at first but later gave in after Jingini convinced her that he would bring it back in two days.

After two days Mwale called Jingini so that they could meet in central Harare. Jingini agreed and told Mwale he was bringing the laptop with him.

However, he never showed up and started avoiding her. She later learnt that he and sold the laptop and filed a police report leading to Jingini’s arrest. Jingini was remanded in custody pending his sentence.
