This could be another confirmation of the efficacy of the famed African voodoo or juju, as many would love to call it, as it was reported that the driver of commercial vehicle which was involved in a fatal accident along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Ihiala, Anambra State, Nigeria, allegedly disappeared, while the vehicle somersaulted, leading to death of one passenger, and scores injured.
It was gathered from eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident that the vehicle, a Toyota Sienna bus, was on top speed along the road on its way from neighbouring Abia State on Tuesday, June 7, and somewhere close to the headquarters of Ihiala Local Government Area, the vehicle lost balance, skidded off the road and somersaulted several times before landing in a bush.
As rescuers rushed to the scene to help the victims, it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle had mysteriously disappeared, leaving the hapless passengers, with one woman pulled out dead, and four others seriously injured.
A search was mounted by the rescuers, thinking that the driver could have been trapped in the wrecked vehicle but it yielded no fruit as he was no where to be found.
Elderly villagers who went to the scene, told the bewildered onlookers that the driver must have 'cooked' himself in the local protective charm called 'Otumokpor'.
