The Kenyan acting fraternity are mourning the demise of the late actress Nancy Sirengo. The celebrated actress passed on while undergoing a caesarean section at an Eldoret Hospital.
The 31-year-old actress who has been a great influence in the Kenyan acting scene, had gone to the hospital to deliver her first-born child when the doctors attending to her recommended that she undergo a C-section which was successful but she later succumbed to complications in the theatre.
Nancy, the daughter of Sirengo Khaemba, the Executive Secretary Kenya National Schools, Colleges and Universities Drama Festival had recently been promoted as the Assistant Business Development Manager, North Rift for Unilever, and last Saturday, she drove herself to hospital (she was due for delivery), checked herself in and after undergoing C-Section as advised by the doctors, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy named Baraka but afterwards, she developed complications and began to bleed continuously but later passed on.
Nancy Sirengo’s death has left many in disbelief; family, colleagues and friends. Eulogizing his daughter, Khaemba described her as a hardworking young lady who was the light to the rest of her siblings.
“WE LOST A HARDWORKING DAUGHTER WHO HAD GOOD IDEAS ABOUT OF HELPING HER SIBLINGS AND CONTRIBUTING TO THE GROWTH OF SOCIETY. SHE TOOK TO HER FATHER IN THE ARTS AND WAS TALENTED IN ACTING WINNING THE BEST ACTRESS ONE TIME WHILE ACTING WITH USIU,”
Khaemba told the Standard. The late will be laid to rest this coming Saturday at her Sikhendu village.
