Before marriage and childbirth, Tonto Dikeh, Nollywood actress, was controversial and ubiquitous.
Known as ‘Tontolet’, the actress courted controversy and gave in equal measure, what she got from her fans, peers and the Nigerian movie industry.
But that part of her appears to be in the past as she has considerably simmered down and is much more demure in her disposition towards life.
Against all expectations, Tonto Dikeh, after marriage, shied away from the public while also shielding her family – husband and son.
The actress, who has also gone off the acting radar, recently revealed on #YNaijaTwitterInterview, that she hasn’t changed her stance on keeping her family life private.
“My decision on keeping my family (especially my son) out of the public remains the same”, Dikeh said.
Speaking on the effect of motherhood on her life, she said, “Motherhood has been awesome, it has been a learning process for me everyday. motherhood has taught me to pray more and appreciate life, God and people more.”
Tonto Dikeh also revealed that she never knew she would end up with her husband, Olakunle Oladunni Churchill.
“I never knew he (my husband) was the one God had in mind for me but I liked him”, the actress added.
The singer/actress began her foray into music in 2012, when she released a string of singles, such as – ‘High, Itz Ova and Sugar Rush’ – which eventually led her to join D’banj’s record label, D’Kings Men (DKM).
The actress however, announced her departure from the record label a couple of months ago and while explaining her decision to ditch DKM, she said, “D’banj has been a wonderful brother to me, [it’s] just time for me to move on.”
Having featured in numerous movies, Tonto Dikeh maintains she is yet to “film her best project” while making it known that her second coming into Nollywood would see her serve “as a producer” in her own movies.
