Napoli To Renew Koulibaly’s Deal

Serie A side Napoli will look to improve and extend Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract with the club, according to reports in Italy.

Serie A side Napoli will look to improve and extend Kalidou Koulibaly’s contract with the club, according to reports in Italy.

The Senegal international had a summer of uncertainty, with several clubs interested in signing him – most notably Chelsea, who bid a reported €50million to land his services.

However, Napoli refused to sell the player despite his own desire to leave the Stadio San Paulo, insisting that his contract to 2020 would be honoured.

This saw Chelsea resort to signing Brazilian David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain, bringing the defender back to Stamford Bridge for a second spell at the Blues.

In an effort to tie down 25-year-old Koulibaly once and for all, Napoli have reportedly offered him a new contract which will see his salary jump from €800,000 to €1.9million.

The Teranga Lions player, who will hope to feature for Senegal in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, joined Napoli in 2014 from Belgian side Genk.
