Benin forward Stephane Sessegnon signed a two-year contract with French Ligue 1 club Montpellier on Monday.

The former Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion player was a free agent, having been released by the Baggies at the end of May.

The 32-year-old was strongly linked with a move to Burnley, which would have allowed him to remain in the Premier League, but no deal materialised.

Sessegnon has also played for Creteil, Le Mans and Paris Saint-Germain in his European career.

He will wear the number 28 jersey at Montpellier.
