South African singer Zahara to undergo s_ex change

Multi award winning songstress Zahara has shocked the nation after announcing that she plans to undergo a s_ex change. The news comes barely a week after the Loliwe star unveiled a new look.


Speaking to LiveMonitor, Zahara said she has always felt like a man inside and felt it was high time she let the whole know in on her deepest secret. “I have been weighed down by this secret. I wanted to come out but someone close to me advised me against it and said it would ruin my career. But now I feel like I can not hide it anymore”, she said.

The surgery, known as s_ex reassignment surgery, will be conducted at local hospital, according to Zahara. No timeline has been set for her surgery, Zahara said adding that she will meet with her doctors in the next week or two.

South Africans were divided on the news with one half supporting her and congratulating her on her courage while the other half heavily criticised her and threatened to boycott her music in the process.

The family has requested privacy during this time.
