The Ghana Football Association are not looking at replacing coach Avram Grant with former Egypt manager Hassan Shehata, according to their communication director.
Reports in the Ghanaian media earlier this week suggested that the Black Stars were keen on bringing Shehata on board, with Grant coming under pressure following the national team’s poor recent results.
Shehata notably led Egypt to three successive Africa Cup of Nations titles from 2006 to 2010 and would be a fine candidate to take over ahead of the 2017 AFCON in Gabon, which begins in less than two months.
However, Ghana FA communication director Ibrahim Daara denied any links to Shehata when he was contacted by Egyptian football website KingFut.
“This is not true, we already have a coach in charge,” Daara said when asked about the prospect of Shehata replacing Grant.
Ghana will compete against Mali, Uganda and Egypt in Group D of the 2017 AFCON.
