Ismaily are now also threatening to boycott the Egyptian Premier League, siding with Zamalek in their protest against referees.
Zamalek president Mortada Mansour yesterday confirmed that his team plans to stop playing in the country’s top flight division.
This drastic action serves as protest against what Mortada perceives to be preferential treatment given to Al Ahly, who claimed a controversial 1-0 win over Misr El-Maqassa on the weekend.
Ahly’s victory come courtesy of a debatable penalty handed out by referee Ibrahim Nour El-Dein. MOrtada has written to the Egyptian FA claiming that the official is corrupt.
Ismaily have now sided with the White Knights in their crusade, claiming that they will also boycott the Egyptian Premier League.
“The administration is thinking about withdrawing from the league because of the referee’s injustice towards the club since the season started,” said Ibrahim Othman, the club’s president, in an official statement.
Ismaily, according to KingFut, have also asked the Egyptian Football Association to review three essential points: the return of the fans to the stadiums, the referees committee performance in the past period and the affiliation of some of the referees to governmental sections.
